Rachael and Nicholas married on their wedding anniversary in May. Although planning a winter wedding ceremony outside in the beautiful Barrett Lane Courtyard might have been a risky move, Rachael was adamant that in the last 10 years it had never rained on their anniversary – and she was right! Not only did the rain hold off, but the sun was out and was one of those glorious, sunny winter days.
Barrett Lane is a small wedding venue in the Swan Valley. It has a beautiful courtyard where Rachael and Nicholas held their ceremony, a lawn area overlooking the vineyards where they had their post ceremony drinks, and the building inside set up for their reception with a wrap around verandah. I absolutely love venues that everything you need in the one location, and beautiful ones at that!
The ceremony was officiated by Claire from Ceremonies by Claire. With Rachael and Nicholas elevated on the stairs, all their family and friends could see them. I’m such a fan of the Barret Lane archway, especially one carefully carved from a hedge! It was the perfect spot for their signing table and a quick little private catchup together (one of my favourite moments of a wedding day).
After the ceremony, they headed to the lawn area for congratulations along with a grazing table and drinks being served.
Soon after we headed to a bigger grass area for some family photos (with an uncooperative toddler) and then left the family to head further into the vineyard for some wedding portraits, along with some photos near the iconic Barrett Lane barn door.
As the sun was setting on the vineyard, the crowd was then moved into the Barrett Lane function room to prepare for the couple’s return which kicked off the food service and the lolly jar table! Rachael and Nicholas managed to pull off one of the best winter weddings I’ve had the pleasure of capturing.
