For Ben and Pierra, eloping was the perfect way to keep their wedding day relaxed and fuss free. They chose a spot significant to them – Lesmurdie Falls – which happens to have an epic view of the city in the distance, the start of winter waterflow coming off the waterfall, and it one of those epic sunny winter days that Perth is famous for.
Pierra wore a super cute white mini paired with white ankle boots for roaming – though she did slip on some cute heels when we got to the ceremony spot. She also made her own veil to finish off the outfit. Ben wore a shirt and pants. Dressed up, but comfortable.
We all met in the carpark with Candice, their celebrant, and a mate who acted as witness (myself being the second witness), and let’s not forget their adorable dog! We took a walk around to find the perfect spot, deciding to hold the ceremony right where the action is: on the viewing platform overlooking the waterfall. Being the start of winter, the water wasn’t too heavy so it wasn’t too loud.
Candice performed the ceremony in the glorious sunshine, with magpies looking on. Sweet and simple. They popped some champagne to celebrate and then we sent Candice and their friend back to the picnic area so we could get some quick wedding portraits.
Late afternoon in the Perth Hills means dramatic lighting and beautiful backdrops. It was a hot summer and autumn, so the surrounding native bushland was heat damaged, brown and dry. It still made for some beautiful photos though!
When we were done having fun and mucking around, we headed back to the picnic area to sign the paperwork on a picnic table. Then it was time for some celebratory cake. Who needs plates when you can just use a fork? With the sun close to setting, I left them there to celebrate with a single polaroid photo the only evidence, at that moment, to remember that this special moment had really happened.
