A few years ago I walked into the Safari Record Shack and immediately thought it would make the perfect elopement spot: the heritage building, high ceilings, wooden floorboards, and a whole wall of vinyl. So a few years later I got in touch with legendary Perth celebrant, Eddie Lemos Couto, and my fellow retro, analog loving mate Mariah from Love on Film to put together a Perth elopement package for cool couples looking for something a bit different. Luckily, Safari’s Record Shack was on board!
Enter Alanna and Paul, whose original plan to get married at the Fremantle Maritime Museum had been cancelled due to covid, and they didn’t quite get around to re-organising the wedding. A few years later, and a toddler now in tow, when they came across our Record Store Elopement Package on Instagram and they jumped at the idea.
After a hilarious and fun ceremony by Eddie (with so many musical puns I couldn’t keep up) and with their sisters as witnesses, we celebrated with champagne, walked back to the car via a laneway (stopping for photos, of course) and then headed to Fremantle where they planned on surprising everyone with their news.
We met up for some portraits first, stopping by the iconic Bon Scott (from AC/DC) statue, and then headed to the vinyl bar Ode to Sirens where all their family and friends had gathered under the guise that they were celebrating Paul’s recent graduation from university. Surprise!
They were so thrilled to have such an easy and fun wedding day, with minimal fuss and a fun story to tell their future grandchildren!
The record store elopement package is always available for rebel couples wanting to elope in Perth. Get in touch if you’re interested!
